Mobilitec, Siemens mobile join forces on media delivery

Siemens Information and Communication Mobile Group (Siemens mobile) and Mobilitec, a leading provider of software products that enable mobile service delivery, today announced they have entered into a relationship where Mobilitec will enable secure and flexible media delivery for Siemens. Logos, ring tones, Java applications, images, music, and video clips are among the data services that are already making a big splash today. The Siemens Information and Communication Mobile Group (Siemens mobile) has now added a solution to its portfolio that administers the content of mobile services, limits copying, and facilitates variable rate models for media use. The offering is based on the mPower suite of products from Mobilitec and is also suitable for media that the end user plays on the end device via download technology. Siemens mobile ensures that the Mobilitec system is integrated seamlessly in the mobile networks of the carriers and application service providers and works together smoothly with existing components, such as MMSC (Multimedia Messaging Center).
The Siemens offering is aimed at carriers and application service providers that want to offer their subscribers innovative, wide-ranging rich data services, including Java applications, icons, images and music files, or videos and would like to provide them on a single platform. The core of the mPower suite is a business logic engine that can be used to develop copyrights protection, service packages, and variable rate usage for different customer segments. The offerings can be realigned at any time -- to accommodate changes in user needs.
The mPower suite for media delivery makes it possible to deliver and manage a wide variety of dynamic content services. Users can search and download mobile applications based on their specific interests and criteria. In addition, mPower's Digital Rights Management provides carriers with many models to protect content from unauthorized forwarding. In addition, providers can also use the functions of the mPower suite of products, such as Digital Rights Management, for their media streaming solutions, in order to exploit potential synergies.
Siemens and Mobilitec plan to market mPower jointly to leading carriers and application service providers worldwide. The carriers will receive comprehensive service, including integration in existing infrastructures and complete technical support.
"Siemens is an ideal partner to help us extend our reach into the carriers," said Margaret Norton, CEO of Mobilitec, Inc. "Siemens worldwide presence, mobile end-to-end solutions, and comprehensive expertise in infrastructure technology integrated with Mobilitec's leading integrated suite of products that enable mobile service delivery will be a powerful proposition for carriers worldwide to generate and maximize revenue opportunities."
"Siemens values mPower as a platform with great technological power and functionality. This product, combined with our extensive expertise in the integration of solutions in large networks, meets all the requirements and needs of carriers with regard to downloading or streaming solutions," said Christoph Caselitz, President of Networks within Siemens mobile.
