Molotov officially launches OTT TV service

French OTT TV service Molotov has officially launched, confirming it is free for all screens. Options from EUR 3.99 per month will be available with no contractual obligations. The service will provide 33 channels, including 25 TNT France channels, as well as 10 hours of bookmarks. The Option+100, at EUR 3.99 per month, gives an extra 100 hours of bookmarks while Option Extended, at EUR 9.99 per month, supplies over 70 HD channels, with four simultaneous screens and 100 hours of bookmarks.

The company wants to innovate viewing, saying its system enables enables uses to quickly see what is going on all channels. They can then choose what they want to watch, either live or via catch-up, and then view from the beginning. Users can also bookmark what they want to watch, and then view at their leisure.

The service also includes new social media functions, including notifications and alerts. Navigation will be added in the coming months. Molotov is available on smartphone, tablet, Apple TV, smart TV and on Mac and PC via molotove.tv.

Molotov OTT service reaches 1 million users

French over-the-top TV platform Molotov announced that it has reached 1 million users since its official launch in July 2016. The company said that smartphones account for approximately 40 percent of usage, followed by tablets/computers (around 40 percent) and TVs (circa 20 percent). The average age of the user base is 35, while the average time spent on the service is 80 minutes per day, ranging from 40 minutes on smartphones and 160 minutes on the TV screen.

French OTT TV provider Molotov raises EUR 22 mln

French over-the-top video platform Molotov announced that it has raised EUR 22 million as part of what it described as a second funding round, following a EUR 10 million round in 2014. The company said that the capital raised comes from previous backers, including Idinvest and new investors, including Sky and french infrastructure operator TDF. The news that Sky had participated to the founding round had emerged in September, when the company said it had made a EUR 4 million investment.

Molotov signs Canal, plans 11 July launch

French OTT TV service Molotov announced its planned launch for 11 July, after previously saying it would start up sometime this year.
