After handing in their resignation last week, Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger have announced the appointment of Adam Mosseri as head of Instagram. Mosseri, currently Instagram’s VP of Product, started on 1 October.
The new chief began his career as a designer and then joined the Facebook design team in 2008. In his new role, he will be responsible for all functions of the business and recruit a new executive team. This will include a head of engineering, head of product and head of operations.
The co-founders highlighted Mosseri’s strong design background and focus on craft and simplicity, as well as of his understanding of the importance of community.
