The number of IPTV service subscribers worldwide is forecast to reach 72.6 million in 2011, from 13.5 million in 2007, equal to a CAGR of around 40 percent, according to data from the Multimedia Research Group (MRG). MRG has increased its forecast for global IPTV subscribers in 2011, up from 63.6 million forecast in April. It attributed the increase to greater optimism for market success in China, India and South Korea. For 2007, it has decreased its subscriber forecast from 14.3 million to 13.5 million, although its forecast for system revenues has increased from USD 2.1 billion to USD 2.5 billion. MRG expects Europe to remain the number one IPTV market in terms of subscriber numbers through 2011, with Asia catching up quickly. It expects Asia to surpass Europe in 2012/2013. It expects Verizon to be the world's largest IPTV service provider in 2011.
