
MTN Irancell set to begin tests on 3G network

MTN Irancell said it will soon begin carrying out tests on its 3G network in a number of public universities and government institutions in Tehran after receiving approval from the industry regulator for operation from 23 August. Using 3G and newer generations, MTN said it will be possible to offer mobile virtual training, provide access to TV channels on the move, use an electronic library, and offer services such as LBS, M2M, VoIP, virtual office and e-Government. MTN is the first national operator to be granted a 3G licence in Iran.
