MTS conducts strategic review of Allstream business
Manitoba Telecom Services said it is planning to undertake a wide-range strategic review of its Allstream business following legislative amendments recently passed by the Federal Government, allowing for increased foreign investment into certain telecommunications companies, such as Allstream. The strategic review process will occur over the course of the coming year. The company will obtain the assistance of external legal advisors during the exploratory process as well as from CIBC World Markets and Morgan Stanley as financial advisors.

MTS Allstream net earnings fall to CAD 44.5 mln in Q2

Canadian operator Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS Allstream), including its two operating divisions MTS and Allstream, has reported net earnings of CAD 44.5 million for Q2 2012, down from CAD 49.8 million a year earlier. Earnings per share (EPS) was CAD 0.67 in Q2 2012, up 4.7 percent after adjusting for a one-time scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) tax credit recorded in Q2 2011. MTS expands search for Allstream buyer - report

Manitoba Telecom Services is redoubling efforts to find a buyer for its MTS Allstream division, the Globe and Mail reports. The Canadian operator hired Morgan Stanley to drum up foreign interest, especially from the US, after attempts to find a Canadian suitor fizzled. MTS is said to be in no rush to sell Allstream and there is no full-fledged auction planned.
