MTS revenues lift 8% in Q1
Russian operator MTS reported first-quarter revenues of RUB 108.1 billion, up by 7.9 percent year-on-year. Group net profit totaled RUB 14.5 billion, up by 33.3 percent. The active subscriber base of the group increased by 3.8 percent to 108.3 million. Adjusted OIBDA was stable at RUB 41.3 billion, while the OIBDA margin declined by 3 percentage points, to 38.2 percent.

 

Revenues in Russia totaled RUB 96.3 billion, up by 6.5 percent. Mobile service revenues grew 1 percent, to RUB 71.1 billion. Fixed revenues totaled RUB 15.4 billion in Russia, up by 0.3 percent. Sales of goods jumped by 71 percent, to RUB 10.7 billion. OIBDA grew in Russia by 1.1 percent, to RUB 38.6 billion while the OIBDA margin slipped 1.1 percentage points, to 40.1 percent..The net profit jumped 64.7 percent, to RUB 15 billion, in Russia.

The group expects over 4 percent growth in revenues this year. In the first quarter, the operator entered the tower infrastructure market with the intention to develop a new business direction.

MTS also started a cooperation in the retail field with Samsung. The operator has already opened shops under the Samsung brand in some major cities, with new shops scheduled to soon open.
