MTS, Yandex launch in-car computer and services

Russian mobile operator MTS, in cooperation with the search engine Yandex, has launched the MTS/Yandex Auto computer for cars. Customers will be able to install the device in their cars and access mobile internet services.

MTS/Yandex Auto is a multimedia solution for cars, which includes services used when traveling. The services are managed over a single interface and can be controlled by voice commands. The system includes navigation, Yandex's digital assistant Alice, Yandex.Music, as well as music, radio and video applications from MTS.

The device is offered alongside the tariff For Auto including a 10 GB mobile data traffic package, as well as unlimited data traffic using applications from MTS and services from Yandex. 

The new system is available for sale in shops of MTS, as well as online. Sales have already been started in Krasnodar, Tyumen, Rostov, Novgorod, Nizhniy-Novgorod, Samara, Tolyatti and Kaluga.

The system is adapted to popular models of cars from Volkswagen, Toyota, Kia, Skoda, Mitsubishi, Renault, Hyundai, Nissan and Lada.

Yandex revenues up, net profit down in Q2

Revenues of Russian internet search engine Yandex grew by 40 percent to RUB 41.4 billion in the second quarter of this year. Net income totaled RUB 3.4 billion, down by 90 percent, due largely to the spin-off of Yandex.Market in a joint venture. Adjusted EBITDA was RUB 13.1 billion, up by 50 percent, and the adjusted EBITDA margin totaled 31.6 percent.
