NBN Co beats FY2019 rollout targets, nears 10 mln ready to connect premises
NBN Co, the company building and operating Australia’s broadband access network, announced that it has exceeded its rollout and activation targets for FY19. In the three months to 27 June, NBN Co connected more than 1.1 million premises to its network, which brought the total number of ready to connect premises to 9.93 million at 27 June. NBN’s FY19 forecast target was 9.7 million ready to connect premises.

NBN Co also reports that the total number of premises activated for the same period came in at 5.52 million, slightly ahead of the company’s forecast target of 5.5 million. According to the company, more than three quarters of all Australian homes and businesses can now access a service over the NBN network.

Australia ended May with 5.2 million households connected to the NBN, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). NBN residential broadband connections increased by 8.5 percent in the March quarter, up from 4.8 million at end-2018.  The study also found that there were at least seven access seeker groups acquiring NBN services directly from NBN Co at each of the 121 points of interconnect and at least eight access seeker groups at 118 of the POIs.
