NBTC confirms True, AIS as spectrum auction winners
Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) officially announced that True Move H Universal Communication, a subsidiary of True Corporation, and Advanced Wireless Network Co, a subsidiary of AIS, are the auction winners for the licences in the 1800 MHz band. 

True will have the frequencies 1710-1725 MHz paired with 1805-1820 MHz, for a price of THB 39.7 billion (VAT excluded), and AIS acquired the rights to 1725-1740 MHz paired with 1820-1835 MHz for THB 40.99 billion. Before officially awarded the licence to operate in the 1800 MHz spectrum, True Move and AIS will have to fulfil the conditions precedent set by the NBTC within 90 days after receiving the official notification of auction result.

Thailand to reassign 1500 MHz spectrum for mobile services

Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) plans to reassign the 1500 MHz spectrum used by Thai state-owned operator TOT and two local units of Chevron for provision of mobile services, local newspaper The Nation reports. TOT currently uses 35.15 MHz of this spectrum for provision of rural telephony and signal transmission services, while Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production and Chevron Offshore (Thailand) use 28MHz each for surveying and petroleum production.

True Move H to launch 4G service on 1800MHz in December

True Move H Universal Communication, a subsidiary of Thai communications group True, plans to launch a 4G service on its newly acquired 1800MHz licence in the middle of this month, The Nation reports, citing True executive director Thiti Nantapatsiri. According to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), AWN will launch 4G services in mid-December. NBTC will switch off TrueMove's 2G service on 1800MHz on 3 December.

Thai mobile operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) has been selected by state-run operator TOT as partner in its mobile business. Under the terms of the deal, AIS will lease 15 MHz of bandwidth on TOT's 2100MHz spectrum for 10 years, Reuters reports, citing TOT acting president Monchai Noosong. Thai mobile operator Total Access Communication (dtac) has launched 4G services on 1800 MHz spectrum, to complement its 4G service on its 2.1 GHz band, local newspaper The Nation reports. The 1800 MHz 4G service will initially be available in downtown Bangkok, which has the heaviest data traffic, accounting for half of all 4G areas in Greater Bangkok.

The Telecom Committee of Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission has postponed the planned 900 MHz spectrum auction to 15 December, local newspaper The Nation reports. The auction was initially announced for 12 November. The auction date of 11 November for two licences in the 1,800 MHz spectrum remains unchanged.
