Nest CEO Tony Fadell moves on to pursue 'new opportunities'

Nest has announced the resignation of CEO Tony Fadell, who explained in a blog that he will continue to be an advisor for Alphabet and CEO Larry Page and that he wants to pursue new opportunities. The outcoming CEO said he will succeeded by Marwan Fawaz, who has worked at Motorola in an executive positive and who most recently was at a consulting firm.

Fadell noted that Nest revenue has grown over 50 percent year-on-year and that people in 190 countries use the company’s products, which include hardware, software, services, and the Nest-backed Thread wireless protocol. In 2015, the company shipped four new hardware products and five significant App releases, and the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen reached reached the 1 million unit milestone in half the time as the previous generation. More than 18,000 developers are now building their own products and services on the platform.
