Nest Labs, ARM back Thread home network standard

A new Internet of Things industry group called Thread has launched, focusing on wireless networking in the home. The founding members of the Thread Group are Yale Security, Silicon Labs, Samsung Electronics, Nest Labs, Freescale Semiconductor, Big Ass Fans and ARM. They will focus on developing Thread, a new IP-based wireless networking protocol offered as an alternative to current 802.15.4 networking technologies.
