Nextel Mexico ordered to pay MXP 8.5 mln compensation

Mexico's Office of the Federal Prosecutor for the Consumer (Profeco) has ordered Nextel Mexico to pay MXP 8,500,000 (USD 609,055) in compensation to a total of 1,500 users in Reynosa, Matamoros and Laredo. The customers in question had complained of poor service and improper charges relating to the Evolution plan. Profeco Tamaulipas representative Felipe Garza Narvaez said that 1,600 complaints had been presented, equivalent to 24 daily complaints against Nextel Evolution.
