Thursday 21 December 2017 | 15:42 CET | News
The Brazilian Network Information Centre (NIC.br) has signed an agreement with the operator GlobeNet for the implementation of a new internet exchange point in Fortaleza. GlobeNet will be responsible for hosting the national internet infrastructure for traffic interchange in the North and Northeast regions from its Fortaleza data centre. Fortaleza is already a landing point for several submarine cables, such as the GlobeNet cable (linking the US, Bermuda and Venezuela to Brazil) and Monet. The new internet exchange point will become the second most important in the country, behind Sao Paulo.
