Nokia CEO plans board shake-up - report
Several senior officials on Nokia's group executive board are expected to leave soon as part of a major shake-up by the company's new CEO, a person familiar with the situation told the Wall Street Journal. Stephen Elop, a Microsoft veteran who was hired in September to help revive Nokia, is finalizing his plan to revamp the company, which he is expected to present on 11 February at an analysts' meeting in London. Nokia executives will be briefed on Elop's plans the day before the meeting, according to the paper's source. Nokia also has retained executive recruiters to find a new head of operating systems, as well as a new head of research and development with strong software talent, the person said. German weekly WirtschaftsWoche reported earlier that up to half the board members, which are mostly Finns and appointed by Elop's predecessors Jorma Ollila and Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, could be dismissed. The possible dismissals include Nokia's chief developer Kai Oistamo as well as head of Services and Mobile Solutions Tero Ojanpera, mobile phone boss Mary MacDowell and production and logistics head Niklas Savander.
