Nokia cuts latency to under 2 milliseconds with 4.9G tech

Nokia has taken advantage of its appearance at Mobile World Congress Shanghai to demonstrate how its AirScale base station works with 4.9G technology to reduce network latency to less than two milliseconds. The company said it will use a feature that allows transmission time intervals to be shortened by 86 percent. The Nokia AirScale base station supports both 4.9G and 5G technology in a single unit to maximise speed and capacity as operators migrate to 5G.
