Nokia launches first Windows phones in China
Nokia confirmed the launch of its first Windows phone in China, the Nokia 800C. The CDMA phone will launch exclusively with China Telecom in April. It will be available at Tianyi FlyYoung shops, Nokia brand stores, electronics stores including Suning, Gome, Funtalk, D.Phone and CentreYou, as well as regional channels and online shops such as 189.cn and hicdma.com. The Nokia 800C is offered without a contract for CNY 3,599. The phone features a 3.7-inch Amoled curved touchscreen, 1.4GHz processor, 8 megapixel camera, 16GB internal memory, HD video and SkyDrive cloud storage. In addition to Nokia Maps, Drive and Music apps, the phone integrates China Telecom services aimed at young people, such as music, games, videos and reading apps on the home screen. To reach this target market, the Nokia 800C will be featured prominently in Tianyi FlyYoung shops, the new, youth-centered sub-brand of China Telecom. The phone will also come with free download offers, such as for the Trends fashion magazines and popular games such as Fruit Ninja and PVZ. In addition, China Telecom will offer a CDMA version of the Nokia Lumia 610 from Q2, also targeting younger users. Nokia and Microsoft also announced the Be Top program to encourage and support developers in creating new applications on Windows Phone specifically for people in China.
