
Nokia names DeVard as executive VP, CMO

Nokia has appointed Jerri DeVard as executive vice president and chief marketing officer, effective 1 January 2011. DeVard will join Nokia's group executive board, reporting to Nokia's Markets unit head and executive vice president Niklas Savander. The Marketing and Communications organisation under the CMO will bring together all of Nokia's Marketing, Brand Management, Communications and selected Industry collaboration activities. DeVard has more than 25 years of marketing experience across consumer brands, including Verizon, Citigroup, Revlon, Harrah's Entertainment and the Pillsbury Company. In the role she handled brand management and multi-cultural marketing, with a foundation on direct marketing and e-commerce. She has provided counsel to blue-chip companies and in fund-raising efforts as part of the Barack Obama presidential campaign. DeVard has founded her own marketing group that provides advice and counsel to major consumer product companies.
