Nokia plans 10-inch, Windows 8 tablet - report
Nokia is working with Microsoft to launch its first tablet later this year, the Digitimes reports citing sources among upstream component suppliers. Nokia is expected to launch a 10-inch Windows 8 tablet PC based on Qualcomm's dual-core platform in the fourth quarter of 2012 at the earliest, the report said. Nokia is expected to outsource production of the 10-inch tablets to Compal Electronics, with the first batch of shipments to top 200,000 units.

Computer makers Acer and Asustek have unveiled their first tablets and laptops running Windows 8 at the Computex trade show in Taiwan. 'Windows 8 in oktober'

Microsoft zal in oktober van dit jaar zijn nieuwe besturingssysteem Windows 8 op de markt brengen. Dat schrijft althans Bloomberg. Volgens het persbureau zullen er ook direct Intel- en ARM-apparaten met Windows 8 beschikbaar zijn. Intel zou zijn vertegenwoordigd met 40 apparaten terwijl ARM het moet doen met maximaal vier, waarvan er drie tablets zijn. Nokia zal nog aan het eind van dit jaar komen met een tablet die draait op Windows 8. Dat meldt althans de Aziatische technologiewebsite Digitimes op basis van bronnen binnen de supply chain.
