Nokia sees no impact on Q1 results from Japan earthquake
Nokia said it expects component shortages due to the earthquake in Japan to impact some of its product deliveries, but this should not have a material effect on first-quarter results. Nokia said a complete picture of the impact was not yet available. However, the company expects some disruption to the ability of its Devices & Services unit to supply a number of products due to the anticipated industry-wide shortage of relevant components and raw materials sourced from Japan. Nokia said its supply chain management system is designed to mitigate operational disruptions by using alternative sources for components and production processes. In an effort to minimize the impact, Nokia is in talks with with suppliers inside and outside of Japan. Nokia said it will provide more detailed information during its next quarterly results announcement on 21 April.
