Nokia has unveiled a new flagship smartphone in its Windows Lumia range, the Nokia Lumia 925. The phone comes with the latest lens technology and features of Nokia's PureView imaging software on the 8.7 megapixel camera, including optical image stabilization, autofocus, high-power dual LED flash and 1080p HD video at 30fps.
The new Nokia Smart Camera mode, which will also roll out to other Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8, allows users to capture ten images at once and edit the pictures with options like Best Shot, Action Shot, and Motion Focus. In addition, Nokia will offer Hipstamatic's new app Oggl on Lumia smartphones, to support sharing photos across social networks. The update named Lumia Amber will roll out to existing devices from this summer.
The Lumia 925 will be available initially with Vodafone in certain European markets in June. This includes an exclusive 32GB model, available first in the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain. The smartphone will launch later with T-Mobile USA, China Mobile and China Unicom, as well as other operators and retailers. It's recommended price is EUR 469, excluding taxes and subsidies.
The Lumia 925 features a 4.5-inch Amoled WXGA screen with 1280x768 resolution and Gorilla Glass 2, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, 2,000 mAh battery with support for wireless charging cover, 1.2 megapixel wide-angle front camera, LTE, 1GB RAM and standard 16GB storage. Introducing a metal trim for the first time in the Lumia range, the phone comes with a polycarbonate backing in white, grey or black, with additional covers sold separately in white, black, red and yellow. Nokia's Here apps for location services and Nokia Music are also loaded on the device.
