Nokia withdraws Here maps app from Apple store
Nokia has withdrawn its Here maps and navigation app from the Apple App Store, saying that recent changes in Apple's iOS 7 "harm the user experience". The Here service is still available free to Apple users from a mobile website.

Here has already racked up 4 million downloads on Android since its launch on the Google platform last October. Nokia launches Here map app for all Android devices

Nokia's navigation and mapping business Here has launched its free mobile app to all Android users. The app was initially distributed for Samsung Galaxy smartphones alone but a post on Nokia's Here blog announces that a beta has been made available for all Android smartphones, preferably those running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) or above with at least 1 GB of RAM. However, Nokia hasn't yet launched Here for Android on Google Play, with users having to "side-load" the app onto their phones from Nokia's website

Nokia's Here launches community mapping pilot in India

Nokia's mapping business Here has launched a community mapping pilot in India. This is the first major country where Here will combine its industrial data collection methods with a crowd mapping initiative. With a team of more than 1,000 people in India, the regional Here will work directly with handpicked local experts from universities around the country. To maintain accuracy and ensure map quality, Here has built a community map moderation system to verify edits before integrating them into the base map.

Nokia haalt HERE Maps-app weg uit iOS 7

Nokia heeft zijn navigatie-app HERE Maps weggehaald uit de Apple App store. Als reden voert Nokia aan dat diverse recente veranderingen in Apples mobiele OS iOS 7 de gebruikerservaring minder goed maken. iOS 7-gebruikers kunnen wel gratis de mobiele webversie van HERE blijven gebruiken, laat Nokia weten aan Engadget. Het grote verschil met de app is dat de mobiele versie geen data offline kan bewaren. Zaken zoals routes en bestemmingen zoeken blijven hetzelfde.
