NTT launches new Cloud Communications division

NTT has announced the launch of a new Cloud Communications division, led by CEO Mark Alexander. The new Cloud Communications division was previously known as Arkadin and will help NTT deliver its intelligent workplace solutions.

Other senior appointments to the new division include Fiona Lodge as Chief Product and Strategy Officer and Jean Turgeon as Chief Technology and Information Officer.

The Cloud Communications division will work closely with its wholly-owned subsidiary Applicable, provider of cloud unified communications and enterprise voice services with offices in the UK, US and Australia.

NTT Docomo to launch commercial 5G service on 25 March

Japanese operator NTT Docomo has announced it will commercially launch its 5G service on 25 March. At the time of launch, the service will achieve a maximum data rate of 3.4 Gbps, and in June the downlink will increase to a maximum 4.1 Gbps, Docomo said. Docomo's 5G coverage will initially encompass around 150 locations nationwide and then expand to all prefectures by June. More than 500 cities are expected to have access to Docomo's 5G service by March 2021.

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) reports it has succeeded in reducing the transmission time difference between different kinds of optical signals in the same optical fiber, by optimizing the optical cable structure. NTT says bending and twisting parameters of installed optical fibers can be managed by optimizing cable structural parameters such as bundling strength and pitch on multiple optical fibers, and prove that the transmission time variation caused by interference between different mo

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT services and international communications business within the NTT Group, has announced it will reorganize its corporate structure starting 1 April. NTT Com expects this reorganization to enhance its provision of services and trusted platform tools, as well as boost its role as a DX Enabler supporting DX initiatives with the Smart Data Platform (SDPF) to help customers create new value from data.

NTT Data launches digital archive of ASEAN region cultural heritage

NTT Data has developed a digital archive system for the ASEAN Cultural Heritage Digital Archive (ACHDA) project, conducted by the ASEAN Secretariat to digitize the historical cultural heritage of ASEAN countries. The first phase of this project has been completed, with a digital archive created of 160 cultural assets from Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
