Numericable in talks to buy Virgin Mobile France
Carphone Warehouse and the other shareholders of Omea Telecom, the holding company of full MVNO Virgin Mobile France, have entered exclusive negotiations for the proposed sale of 100 percent of Omea to cable operator Numericable for EUR 325 million. Carphone owns 46 percent of Omea Telecom, which besides Virgin Mobile France owns smaller MVNOs Breizh Mobile, Tele2 Mobile and Casino Mobile. The remainder of Omer Telecom is held by Virgin Group. 

The statements from Carphone and Numericable did not indicate the length of the exclusive negotiating period, during which they will consult employee work councils. The transaction is also subject to approval by the French Competition Authority. Numericable said Vivendi will provide EUR 200 million of the financing for the deal, as part of their agreement for Numericable to acquire SFR.

Carphone Warehouse FY results meet guidance

Carphone Warehouse reported results for its fiscal year to March in line with expectations. Pro forma adjusted EBIT rose to GBP 151 million from GBP 132 million a year ago, versus an outlook of GBP 145-155 million. Headline EPS increased to 18.4 pence from 11.6, also in line with guidance. Virgin Mobile France sees fall in revenue, customers in Q4

French MVNO Virgin Mobile France reported a revenue down 8.6 percent to EUR 103 million in its fiscal fourth quarter to 31 March, versus the year-earlier period, according to a London Stock Exchange filing by 46 percent owner Carphone Warehouse.
