Numericable seeks EUR 3.1 bln in damages from FT - report
French cable operator Numericable has filed suit against France Telecom at the Paris Commercial Court and International Chamber of Commerce, claiming EUR 3.1 billion in damages, for cancelling a decade-old agreement on access to cable ducts, La Tribune reports. In July 2010, France Telecom had complained to telecommunications authority Arcep about Numericable not complying with the same regulated procedures as other operators that had begun to install their own fibre in its infrastructure. In November 2010, Arcep ruled in France Telecom's favour, considering that most of its requests were designed to ensure all operators' shared and efficient access to its ducts. France Telecom called Numericable's claims unfounded and said it would seek damages from Numericable for abusive action.
