Chip specialist Nvidia's reported results for its fiscal second quarter to end July, with revenues rising to USD 1.017 billion from 962 million in Q1, boosted by consumer demand for notebooks powered by Nvidia's GeForce GPU. The net income lifted to USD 151.6 million from 135.2 million the previous quarter, with the earnings per share at USD 0.25 from 0.22 in Q1. Meanwhile, the gross margin increased to 51.7 percent, a record for the fourth consecutive quarter. Nvidia expects revenue for its third quarter of fiscal 2012 up 4-6 percent from Q2, with flat gross margins. The company completed its acquisition of Icera on 10 June, and so has included the unit in its Q3 forecast.
