Nvidia warns for weak quarterly sales
Nvidia warned that its revenue for the fiscal fourth quarter to 29 January will come in lower than its previous outlook. It now expects sales of around USD 950 million, compared with its original expectations of USD 1.066 billion, issued in early November. The global disk-drive shortage caused by the flooding in Thailand had more impact than anticipated, Nvidia said. The shortage and high price of disk drives caused some PC OEMs to reduce shipments. Furthermore, Nvidia's Tegra 2 mobile business declined more rapidly than expected, ahead of devices based on the Tegra 3 processor ramping into production in the first quarter of 2012. Nvidia will report the quarterly results on 15 February.
