NXP, Shanghai Unicom, roam2free develop eSIM product

Tuesday 27 June 2017 | 08:30 CET | News
NXP Semiconductors has partnered with Shanghai Unicom, a pilot unit in "consumer networking" of China Unicom, and roam2free to develop a secure eSIM product to enable customers to add mobile plans and cellular networks to their smartphone. The service provides mobile payment and ticketing capabilities, while bringing a new level of connectivity to smartphones and other mobile devices. According to NXP, eSIM users will be able to use a mobile application to add and manage multiple mobile subscriptions for upgraded coverage or when traveling abroad to reduce roaming fees.
