O2 Netherlands re-brands to Telfort
After the take-over of O2 Netherlands by Greenfield Capital Partners, O2 Netherlands will re-brand to Telfort again within the next six months. With the re-branding, Telfort wants to position themselves as 'challengers' and wants to focus not only on the consumer and business market, but also on the mobile wholesale market. O2 Netherlands will be the only mobile operator in the Netherlands with just the Netherlands as their market. O2 holds a significant position in mobile wholesale with clients like debitel and Tele2Mobiel. In 2002 non-voice revenue for O2 grew with 126.7%, which gave them in third position behind KPN and Vodafone. O2 Netherlands had 1.24 million customers at the end of 2002, 4% less to the year before. According to a survey from NIPO in January 2003, the familiarity under the Dutch consumers with the brand Telfort was still 95%.
