Oi cheap broadband reaches 1,200 Brazilian municipalities

Brazilian telecommunications operator Oi connected 150 new cities to its cheap broadband service on 18 April, as part of the National Broadband Plan (PNBL). As a result, the company now provides the service to a total of 1,232 municipalities in Brazil and the goal is to extend the service to all 4,800 cities in which it operates by the end of 2014. In addition, Oi plans to serve users who need more bandwidth by providing FTTH technology in 2013. The Oi Velox service, which comes under the PNBL framework, offers speeds of 1 Mbps and costs from EUR 29.90 to EUR 35.00 per month, an amount that
