Ooredoo Maldives rolls out 5G services

Ooredoo Maldives has announced the commercial launch of its 5G services, starting with a large percentage of the capital city of Male, including business hubs, hospitals and public spaces. The operator has also launched the 5G AirFibre home broadband service. The 5G service is available for both prepaid and postpaid customers on certified handsets.

Ooredoo Maldives also announced 5G Experience zones, for customers who want to try out 5G or 5G AirFibre. Locations includes the first 5G-powered VR Cafe in the Maldives and Ooredoo Club Premier Lounge.

The Ooredoo Maldives Data Centre (OMDC) is located in the emerging smart city of Hulhumale and will support Maldivian and regional businesses from the government, corporate and hospitality sectors.

Ooredoo Maldives FY revenue falls 15% as virus hits tourism

Ooredoo Maldives reported a 15 percent decrease in revenues to KWD 34.3 million in the year ended 31 December 2020 compared with KWD 40.2 million in 2019. EBITDA fell to KWD 17.0 million in 2020 from KWD 22.1 million in 2019. Ooredoo Maldives now serves a total of 349,000 customers.

Ooredoo Maldives revenue falls 10% in first 9 months

Ooredoo Maldives reported a 10 percent decrease in revenues to KWD 26.3 million in the nine months to 30 September from KWD 29.3 million for the same period of 2019. EBITDA shrank to KWD 13.1 million from KWD 16.0 million for the same period in 2019. Ooredoo Maldives now serves a total of 354,000 customers.

Maldives operator Dhiraagu has launched the Samsung Galaxy Note20 and 20 Ultra 5G mobile phones on the local market. Customers can now pre-order the devices at the Dhiraagu website.
