Opera raises FY outlook after Q2 sales grow 38%
Opera Software reported second-quarter revenue up 38 percent year-on-year to USD 100.6 million, led by its expansion in the mobile advertising market and more contracts to install its browser on phones. Adjusted EBITDA rose 24 percent to USD 27.0 million, and net profit increased to USD 9.5 million from USD 6.1 million a year earlier. The results were better than the company's guidance. Opera increased capital expenditure to USD 4.6 million, while operating cash flow fell to USD 4.7 million from USD 11.1 million, mainly due to changes in working capital.

Opera said it had 113.5 million active users via mobile operators at the end of June, up 46 percent from a year earlier, while total Opera mobile consumer users reached 270.8 million at the end of the quarter, an increase of 8 percent year-on-year. Its own sites generated 31.4 billion ad requests in Q2, up 52 percent from the year-earlier period, while total mobile ad impressions on its network rose 9 percent to 118 billion.

Opera forecast third-quarter revenue of USD 135-142 million and adjusted EBITDA of USD 31-34 million. Full-year revenue is estimated at USD 480-500 million and adjusted EBITDA at USD 117-124 million, up from an earlier outlook for sales of USD 390-410 million and EBITDA of USD 108-116 million.
