OPTA more powerful
[Update] Dutch telecom regulator OPTA will have increased power and responsibility, as the majority of the Second Chamber will probably agree with the proposed new telecommunications law. On October 29, the Chamber will vote. When the implementation of the law is completed (before end of the year), the OPTA is allowed to raid telecom companies without an announcement, and it can fine offenders with a maximum of 10% of the company's turnover. When taking measures in the future, the watchdog has to underpin these with foreseeable consequences.
