Orange Bank has expanded the range of services that it can offer directly to customers by becoming an insurance broker. In March, the Orange subsidiary acquired sister company Orange Courtage, which has been offering smartphone insurance since 2018 with its partner Cardif, an insurance specialist part of the BNP Paribas banking group. Orange and Cardif had signed up 600,000 smartphone insurance contracts by early March, providing customers cover against theft, oxidation and accidental damage.
Called 'Assurances 24h', the service developed with Cardif is priced between EUR 2.99 and EUR 29.99 per month, for cover ranging from low-cost handsets to multiple devices and accessories. Under the policy, customers are promised a replacement or a refund within 24 hours of the claim being accepted.
Orange Bank said that its customer base has now passed the 1 million mark when including 'Assurances 24h' contracts, bank account holders and subscribers to loan services.
