Orange Spain has announced that it’s the first operator in the country to offer its customers both VoLTE (Voice over Long Term Evolution) and Wi-Fi calling technology over its 4G and 4G+ network. The advanced calling technology has been available at no extra charge to both iOS and Android users since the end of January. Currently, the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, SE, 6s, 6s Plus, 7 and 7Plus, plus the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and Sony Xperia X and XZ can run the technology, with Orange promising to make available more compatible handsets in the next few weeks.
Orange was the first Spanish operator to introduce Wi-Fi calling in March 2016, offering improved indoor coverage to customers with poor reception inside their homes and businesses, or in areas with no GSM coverage whatsoever. It then followed Vodafone by activating its VoLTE service in November 2016.
