Orange France prepares launch of 4G Home service

The Orange France website is now showing details of a new LTE-based broadband service targeting residential customers, branded 4G Home. Delivered via the Flybox 4G router, its availability will be limited to areas of mainland France where the operator’s LTE network performs better than its DSL offering. Its arrival follows the recent launch of a similar product by Bouygues Telecom, branded 4G Box.

According to Mac Generation, Orange France is currently testing 4G Home with residential customers and is planning an official launch in May. The service offers standalone broadband access without telephony or TV content. It reportedly includes a data allowance of 40 GB for EUR 36.99/month with no minimum contract, while the Flybox 4G router has a one-off cost of EUR 74.90 or can be purchased with the subscription over 24 months.

For business customers, the Flybox 4G router is currently available for EUR 69.90 (excluding VAT) when purchased without a plan and from EUR 1 with an Orange Business Everywhere monthly subscription.
