French operator Orange has unveiled a refreshed portfolio of fixed and mobile plans, which will become available on 04 October. It has also announced on Twitter a new Wi-Fi-enabled TV box that supports 4K content, as well as the Dolby Atmos standard. Speaking to Ouest France, Orange’s technical team based in Brittany revealed that this latest box is compatible with the Djingo voice-controlled personal assistant, and that customers will be able to start using voice commands in the coming months.
Looking at the revamped fixed broadband proposition, Orange is simplifying its fibre offers, giving customers the choice of two packages based on connection speed. Priced EUR 41.99/month, the ‘Livebox Fibre’ service will deliver up to 300 Mbps (download and upload). Customers on the higher-tier ‘Livebox Up’ can expect a download speed of up to 1 Gbps (300 Mbps upload) for EUR 47.99/month. Both packages are discounted during the first year (starting from EUR 22.99 and EUR 28.99/month, respectively).
Commenting on the refreshed plans, 01net notes that the operator's focus has shifted to the communication of maximum bandwidth, from guaranteed speeds previously. The existing base will be automatically upgraded without changing offer, but will also be able to migrate to the new price points, which could save money to customers on the existing top-tier Jet package.
Alongside its new TV box, Orange has unveiled a Wi-Fi booster that doubles up as a digital photo frame. It will retail for EUR 89 and will be offered at the discounted price of EUR 1 when taken with the ‘Livebox Up’ package.
Among the main changes within the mobile proposition, the operator is launching a top-tier plan with a data allowance of 150 GB. It is also enabling more flexibility in the way customers can tailor a ‘converged’ Open bundle, by selecting a Livebox package and adding any one of the new six mobile plans on offer.
