Orange Switzerland and TDC subsidiary Sunrise have launched an appeal at the federal administrative court against the decision of the Swiss cartel office Weko to prohibit the merger between the two operators, according to Swiss news agency SDA citing confirmation from Orange Switzerland spokeswoman Therese Wenger. The appeal enables the parents of both operators, France Telecom and TDC, to keep all options open, according to Wenger. The options include a new request to Weko to approve the merger under certain conditions, as both companies still believe in the merger. Another possibility is going directly to the Federal Council, thus bypassing Weko, to ask for approval of the merger, but this is an unlikely option, according to Sunrise spokeswoman Natasja Sommer, cited by press agency AWP.
