Orange to offer Alcatel One Touch phones with Facebook key
Orange has announced three new Alcatel One Touch phones from TCL Communications for release in Europe and Africa, starting with Romania and Poland before the end of the year. The new handsets feature deep Facebook integration and a dedicated Facebook key. The operator will sell them for under EUR 100 with tariffs including unlimited Facebook access with no extra data charges. The simple social phones will reach over 15 countries, including Armenia, Botswana, Cameroon, France, Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Moldova, Niger, Poland, Reunion, Romania, Senegal, Spain, Tunisia and Uganda. Exact launch dates will be announced locally, as may further countries. The three products are the Alcatel One Touch 585F, 813F and 908F smartphones. The One Touch 908F Android phone will be called the Orange Vancouver in Romania.

TCL Communication handset sales down 10% in Q1

TCL Communication Technology, the maker of Alcatel brand phones, reported a drop in first-quarter volumes to 7.8 million units sold, down 10 percent from a year earlier. Orange to launch Facebook via USSD across Africa

Orange has announced that it will make Facebook accessible via USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) technology across its footprint in Africa this year. USSD allows all Orange customers to access the service, even if they have older or very basic GSM handsets without an internet connection or data plan. Alcatel releases One Touch 990 entry-level smartphone

Alcatel has released the One Touch 990 entry-level smartphone, selling for EUR 199 at Orange France and in Leclerc stores. Chinese handset maker TCL Communication, which manufactures the Alcatel One Touch branded handsets, has introduced the Alcatel One Touch 908. Powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7227-1 chip, the handset runs on Android 2.2 and features a 2.8-inch touchscreen and a 2-megapixel camera. TCL Communication unveils Alcatel One Touch line-up

Chinese handset maker TCL Communication, which produces the Alcatel One Touch branded handsets, said that it registered 125 percent year-on-year growth for the brand as sales volumes exceeded 36 million units. TCL introduced five ranges of products at the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
