Orange UK and Barclaycard have announced the launch of the second Quick Tap contactless payments enabled handset following their launch of the UK's first mobile contactless payments service earlier in 2011. The Samsung Wave 578 with Quick Tap will be available in the coming weeks from Orange shops, telesales and online on PAYG and free on selected price plans. The Samsung Wave 578 will be available in black, has a 3.2-in WQVGA TFT screen and runs on the Bada operating system. It offers Wi-Fi, HSDPA, A-GPS, MicroSD and Bluetooth support, and also features integrated social networking, including Facebook and Twitter. Consumers will be able to use their Wave 578 with Quick Tap to make secure purchases of GBP 15 and under at over 50,000 stores nationwide. To support the launch, Barclaycard is providing Orange customers with GBP 10 cash added to their account upon activation, and 10 percent cash back on all Quick Tap purchases made in the 90 days.
