Orange unveils Djingo voice-controlled personal assistant
Orange is developing a new device branded Djingo, positioned as a voice-controlled personal assistant competing with the likes of Amazon’s Alexa. Unveiled at the company’s annual Hello Show, Djingo will have several capabilities, including the ability to send SMS, interact with Orange’s content services and manage other connected objects. Scheduled to launch in early 2018, the device has been developed in partnership with Deutsche Telekom.

Orange also announced that, from the fourth quarter, it will offer a sound bar designed by Cabasse (an Awox Group’s subsidiary) in partnership with Dolby, and that from next year it will start transferring some of the services and functionalities of the Livebox to the cloud. Business customers will be the first to benefit from this virtualisation project, enabling them to share resources with another Livebox Pro over a secure network, among other things.
