OT to launch NFC hub in France with Bouygues, Orange, SFR

OT (Oberthur Technologies) said it has partnered with AFSCM (French Association for contactless mobile) to roll out NFC services in France with the country’s three major mobile operators, namely Bouygues Telecom, Orange and SFR.

OT and the French operators will build a common hub to enable the massive launch of NFC services in France. OT will be the sole provider for the deployment and management of the hub.

OT noted that 11.5 million French users had an NFC compatible device in June, up 47.1 percent from the year before.

Orange Cash goes live throughout France

Orange's mobile wallet app Orange Cash became available nationwide in France on 19 October. The app supported by Wirecard was piloted in six French cities before the national rollout. Wirecard writes that over 3,000 retailers, including Ikea, Picard and Relay, are participating in the launch phase to support the new service. Orange Cash customers with NFC-enabled smartphones just need to tap to pay at any contactless Visa terminal in more than 324,000 stores across the country and at 2.8 million acceptance

Orange France, Sanef test NFC m-payment for road tolls

Orange France is trialling an NFC-based smartphone payment system with motorways operator Sanef at the Montesson junction of the A14 motorway, reports mobile contactless associations AFSCM. Customers who want to take part in the trial must register online and download a mobile app. When they reach the toll booth, they simply present their NFC phone, even switched off or outside of mobile coverage area. They are billed at the end of the month, according to the billing method chosen when registering.

NFC cards to be in 55% of French wallets by year-end - Visa

In France there are around 17.2 million contactless Visa cards, or 44 percent of all bank cards carried in the country. This is 7.3 million more than a year ago. Edenred pilots NFC mobile payments with Orange, Mastercard

Edenred France, which invented the 'Ticket Restaurant' meal vouchers used by 1.2 million people in France, has launched a mobile payment pilot with Orange France and Mastercard. RATP installs NFC tags at Paris bus and tram stops

Paris area transport authority RATP has started installing NFC tags at bus and tram stops in Ile-de-France after a month of tests on two lines.
