
The number of French online unique visitors to websites and mobile apps dedicated to music totalled 34.6 million in October, according to audience measurement specialist Mediametrie. This represents 55 percent of the country’s population and 65 percent of those who used the internet during the month. Spotify topped the ranking of websites and mobile apps dedicated to music, reaching 17.5 million monthly unique visitors in October, up from 14.9 million in the year-earlier period. Shazam was a distant runner-up (9.5 million), closely followed by Deezer (8.3 million), and Apple Music (7.2 million), while YouTube Music was in fifth position (3.4 million).
Mediametrie said that these websites and apps are primarily accessed via mobile phones. Among the audience that visited them on a daily basis (11.1 million), 87 percent did so on the mobile screen. This represents an increase of 3 percentage points from October 2020.
