Oxby heads European mobile operations for Liberty Global
International cable company Liberty Global has announced the appointment of Graeme Oxby as Managing Director of its European Mobile Operations. Oxby was until recently Executive Director at UK cable company Virgin Media. In this new role, he will further develop Liberty Global's core mobile network to become a full MVNO operator in most of its European operations. The group has already started to build a MVNO business with Virgin Media in the UK and Telenet in Belgium.

Liberty Global plans to offer mobile services to customers throughout Europe, senior VP Manuel Kohnstamm told Bloomberg in an interview. Virgin Media has confirmed the launch of Netflix on TiVo in the UK. The new Netflix app complements Virgin Media's wide range of On Demand content. Virgin to offer 152 Mbps broadband from 2014

Virgin Media has confirmed plans to launch a 152 Mbps broadband service in February 2014, as well as significantly boost speeds for existing customers. Virgin Media added 5,300 mobile phone customers in Q3 to reach 3.03 million. Post-paid mobile customers increased by 58,400 to 1.9 million, with pre-paid customers down by 53,100 to 1.2 million. Virgin Media ends Q3 with 4.89 million customers

Virgin Media increased RGUs by 84,900 to 12.2 million and customers by 41,400 to 4.89 million over the 12 months to 30 September. Sequential customer growth was 13,500 in Q3 2013, with the number of superfast broadband RGUs (30 Mbps+) up by 250,400 in Q3 to reach 3 million. Liberty Global adds 316,000 RGUs in Q3

Cable group Liberty Global added 316,000 revenue-generating units in the third quarter, taking its base to 47.8 million. This included gains of 214,000 broadband customers and 153,000 telephony customers, offset by the loss of 53,000 TV clients.
