
Pakistan ends 2011 with 3.10 mln fixed-line subs

Pakistan ended December 2011 with 3.10 million fixed local line subscribers, up from 2.98 million in September 2011, figures from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) show. PTCL led the market with 2.96 million fixed customers, up from 2.85 million in the September quarter, followed by NTC with 106,502 subscribers, up slightly from 106,027. Brain ended the year with 13,307 fixed customers versus 13,861 in September, and World Call's subscriber base slipped to 9,924 from 9,963 in September. Union Communication grew its subscriber base to 4,175 from 4,150 and NayaTel increased its customer base to 2,294 from 1,839 in September. Fixed teledensity stood at 1.8 percent.
