PCCW spin-off plan rejected by bourse
Hong Kong operator PCCW's proposal to spin off its telecoms business into a separately listed business trust has been rejected by the stock market regulator. PCCW said it disagrees with the decision by the market's Listing Committee and will appeal. The company first announced the proposal in March.

Hong Kong communications provider PCCW is planning to list its telecommunications assets as a business trust in late October to raise up to USD 2 billion. PCCW's 2010 profit rises 28%

Hong Kong telecommunications provider PCCW recorded a profit for 2010 of HKD 1.93 billion, up 28 percent from HKD 1.51 billion in 2009. Basic earnings per share amounted to HKD 0.2775. Core revenue (excluding the company's property development unit PCPD) grew 3 percent to HKD 21.47 billion compared with HKD 20.86 billion a year earlier. Hong Kong operator PCCW announced that it's considering spinning off its telecoms business into a separately listed business trust. PCCW said the considerations were still at a preliminary stage and it's in talks with Hong Kong regulators on the proposal. No final decision has been taken yet.
