PPF attracts 3 bidders for Telenor Serbia & Montenegro - report

Czech investment fund PPF has received three bids for Telenor's operators in Serbia and Montenegro, reports Investitor.me. The bidders include Telekom Srbija, which is already present in Montenegro with local unit m:tel; UK-based investment fund BC Partners, which owns regional cable and media firm United Group; and Telekom Austria, which is active in Serbia through mobile operator Vip mobile.

Telekom Srbija confirmed its interest, while PPF declined to comment. The Czech investor acquired the Telenor activities in Eastern Europe earlier this year.

Michel appointed CEO of Telenor Serbia

Mike Michel has been appointed CEO of Telenor Serbia. He will take up the position by October, following PPF Group's takeover of the company. Michel has worked in various senior leadership roles with over 20 years in the telecom industry.

PPF among potential buyers for United Group - report

Eastern European pay-TV operator United Group is to conduct meetings over the coming week with potential buyers, two sources familiar with the matter told BIRN, ahead of a reported auction in September. Two sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the PPF Group of billionaire Czech businessman Petr Keller is among the suitors, with Reuters reporting that European private equity funds Cinven and BC Partners are also interested.

PPF Group to acquire Serbia-based Telenor Banka

PPF Group announced that it will acquire 100 percent of Serbia-based Telenor Banka from Telenor Group, subject to obtaining the relevant regulatory approvals. The transaction follows the acquisition of Telenor's mobile operations in Central and Eastern Europe, in Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro.

Telenor has agreed to sell its mobile operators in Hungary, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Serbia to Czech investment group PPF for EUR 2.8 billion. PPF already owns the Czech operator O2 and is buying Bulgarian TV group Nova from MTG.
