ProSiebenSat.1 partners with Facebook Watch, to launch Joyn streaming service 18 June

German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 announced it has signed a cooperation agreement with Facebook to offer its video content on Watch, the video platform of the US tech giant.  

The content includes, among others, clips and short episodes of shows and infotainment programmes such as 'Germany's Next Top Model', 'Galileo', 'Late Night Berlin' and 'SAT.1 Breakfast TV'. The cooperation will start with the show 'The Masked Singer', which will air 27 June on ProSieben. 

Through the partnership, ProSiebenSat.1 wants to increase its digital reach and generate additional revenues in the the content and production business. The subsidiary of ProSieben, Studio71 evaluates the content to show on Facebook. In addition, ProSiebenSat.1 produces clips for Facebook Watch, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at shows and backstage interviews. ProSieben and Studio71 produce special content such as posts, stories and live streams to show also on Instagram. 

Watch is the new core video platform of Facebook. Users can receive a personalized video feed that offers up-to-date videos as well as in-house productions, including entertainment, sport and news. Users can also interact with each others and use survey tools to help shaping the content. In the US, Studio71 cooperates with Facebook Watch to show the Influencer production 'Fetch Me A Date'.

ProSieben will launch its own streaming platform Joyn on 18 June, CEO Max Conze said at the annual general meeting, DPA news agency reports. Joyn is a joint venture between ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery, with each company owning 50 percent in the joint venture. It will offer over 50 TV channels in live stream, including the programmes of the German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF.
