Belgian mobile operator Proximus will appeal to the unilaterally announced increase of interconnection tariffs of rival operator BASE. Belgian telecom regulator BIPT has approved the changes BASE had presented, but Proximus is of the opinion that the new tariffs are breaching earlier decisions the BIPT made. The Belgacom unit says that the new BASE interconnection tariff is almost 50% above the Proximus tariff, and almost 30% above the Mobistar tariff, whereas the BIPT decided in 2001 that the maximum difference can be not higher than 15%.
