Proximus, Belfius officially launch internet bank Banx

Proximus and Belfius have officially launched internet bank Banx, which they say will have a focus on sustainability. For example, the app will enable users to monitor the impact of their purchases on the planet via a CO2 dashboard from Doconomy. Banx already has a dozen local partners, with the aim of “bringing environmentally conscious consumers and local partners together to make sustainable banking accessible to everyone.” Customers can exchange their points, which they earn by using the app, for discounts with these partners.

Banx also has an investment offer to contribute to the “transition to a sustainable society.” The investment offer consists of four funds from EUR 25 per month. With partners Natuurpunt and Natagora at Banx, new customers will be able to either plant a tree or support a sustainable project.

Essential and Premium formula

Banx customers can choose from two formulas: Essential and Premium. The Essential account is a free freemium model with one account number and one contactless debit card. As an additional option, users can get a Mastercard debit card for EUR 1 per month. The Essential checking account is completely free for the first six months and will remain free as long as the customer conducts at least five transactions (wire transfers, mobile or card payments and direct debits) per month. Otherwise, EUR 3.5 will be charged at the end of the month.

The Premium plan costs EUR 6.5 per month. Here, users get two individual and one joint account, up to four contactless debit cards and up to four contactless Mastercard debit cards with purchase protection and one-year warranty extension.
